Leading sauce manufacturer achieves discharge consents and saves £115k per annum in trade effluent costs.
A variable effluent composition at the companies Telford factory meant the incumbent solution often failed to achieve discharge consent resulting in high effluent discharge costs.
Company sustainability targets were not being met, therefore a robust and reliable treatment solution was required.
The challenge was to integrate a treatment solution with existing plant, and, with small footprint.
Automation was crucial in order to minimise operator input.
Following detailed effluent stream analysis, Kolina installed and commissioned a containerised treatment solution incorporating patented electrocoagulation technology within the existing treatment train.
Providing the capacity to treat 240m3 per day, the plant was fully automated in order to manage the variable effluent streams, and minimise operator input in the process.
From completion of 3rd party civil work to redirect the discharge outlet, Kolina’s delivery and integration team installed and fully commissioned the plant in 3 weeks.
Kolina’s electrocoagulation treatment plant achieves an average reduction of 78% COD, and 88% TSS plus, there are now no breaches in discharge consent. Trade effluent discharge costs have reduced by 72%, providing an annual saving of c £115,000.
